Setting up iPhone for POP3

Setting up email accounts

If you're setting up an email account for the first time on iPhone or iPod touch, touch the Mail icon on the Home screen. If you're adding an additional account with software version 2.0 or later, touch the Settings icon on the Home screen, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select Add Account.

Because you are setting up an email account from Digital West Networks, select Other.  Then select POP.

POP Email Settings:

Name: (put your name here)
Address: (put your full email address here, i.e.: johndoe@whateverdomain.com)
Description: (put the same email address in this field; it won't make a difference for authentication; it will just help you identify it later)

Incoming Mail Server
Host Name: pop.digitalwest.net
User Name: (put your full email address here, this is very important)
Password:

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

Host Name: outgoing.digitalwest.net
User Name: (put your full email address here, this is very important)
Password:

Outgoing Mail Server Port Number: 587 (not 25)
It will take a very long time to save this setting.

You may wish to turn off the AT&T SMTP server to ensure that you are actually sending via the Digital West SMTP server rather than the AT&T server.

If you have an iPhone prior to Version 2, you will need to change the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) host name to: outgoing.digitalwest.net:587

At any point during the setup for Outgoing mail, if you are asked to choose an encryption method, choose TLS.

If you are still having difficulty, you may need to blank out the fields, reboot the phone, and then re-enter the data correctly, save it, and reboot one more time to ensure that the phone is holding the settings correctly.
