How do I transfer my domain registration AWAY from Digital West?
Digital West is sorry to have you transfer your domain's registration away from us, but we understand that it can be necessary to do so sometimes. Please send in a ticket letting Digital West know you intend to transfer your domain registration away from us.  Be sure to mention any/all domain names you intend to transfer away. Once you submit a ticket, this is the process that we follow to insure a transfer goes as quickly/smoothly as possible:

Step 1:     Digital West will ensure that the domain registration is "Unlocked" at their registrar (if it is not unlocked, the transfer will fail).  Digital West will also ensure that the Admin Contact at their registrar is changed to the Registered Owner or another email address that they can easily access (transfer approval message will be automatically generated to that address).  Digital West will have an "Authorization Code" sent from their registrar to the Admin Contact, which will be needed to accept the transfer.

Step 2:     Customer will need to initiate a transfer with the registrar or their choice, which will generate a transfer approval message to the Admin Contact email.  Customer needs to follow instructions in that email (will need the above mentioned Auth Code) to approve the transfer.  Customer has 3 days to approve that email request or it will time-out the transfer will need to be restarted.

Step 3:      After customer has approved the transfer request, the transfer goes back to the losing registrar for release.  This can take anywhere from 3-7 business days, but typically takes less than 3 if the above steps are followed.

Step 4:     Once the transfer has completed and is out of Digital West's control, the customer needs to let Digital West know if/when they change name servers to another hosting company. Digital West has no way of knowing if/when the customer changes the hosting records with their new registrar, and will not stop billing for hosting unless the customer alerts us.
